Shop of the day: BARK Interiør

Meet Lisbeth, the creative owner, heart and soul of the very personal and homely BARK Interiør shop in Give, Denmark.

”I opened BARK a year ago - and in September 2013 the webshop www.barkshop.dk was added to the mix. My idea with BARK is that of a ”live interior design magazine”.

I want BARK to be a place of colour and personality where my customers really feel at home. That’s why I showcase the items in an environment that mirrors that of a personal home. Interior decorating is in my DNA and my own home is in constant creative movement.”

”After 15 years in the fashion industry entering into the world of interior design was like coming home. It’s always been my dream to open by own interior shop so when the right location became available I quit my steady job and made my dream come true.”

Lisbeth can’t wait to welcome you to BARK Interiør so stop by Østergade 20, 7323 Give, Denmark or visit her webshop www.barkshop.dk

Here you’ll find a broad selection of House Doctor designs, Nicolas Vahé delicacies and other beautiful and funky designs – all handpicked by Lisbeth.

House Doctor recommends:
 Travel tips for Gothenburg

When the House Doctors travel the world we pick up on more than inspiration for future products. These are our insider tips to the city of Gothenburg, Sweden.

Magasingatan 19, 411 18 Göteborg

In a former horse stable in a building from the 16th century is one of the most beautiful decorating shops we’ve ever encountered. Artilleriet presents a mix of classic vintage items as well as contemporary designs from around the world. Here you’ll find your favourite brands side by side with a range of products from upcoming designers and artists you never knew you couldn’t live without.

Da Matteo Panetteria

Vallgatan 5, 411 16 Göteborg

Next door to Artilleriet you’ll find Da Matteo Panetteria – an Italian café and bakery. Rustic bread is presented beautifully and simplistically while the lovely smell of coffee from the cafe's own roastery entices you to taste their classic drip coffee, brewed cup for cup. Enjoy your lunch in the adjacent courtyard surrounded by plants, pebbles and the quiet buzz of Gothenburg life.

Floramor & Krukatös
Kaserntorget 8 411 18 Göteborg

If you go through the bakery and through the courtyard you’ll find an inspiring florist shop called Floramor & Krukatös. A Danish woman and her daughter, who as a trained ceramic artist also sells her own creations here, own the shop. The multi level shop is styled in a very rough and rustic manner and the combination of raw walls and colourful flowers makes for a shopping experience out of the ordinary.

Market 29
Haga Nygata 29
413 01 Göteborg

In Haga, the oldest part of town, you enter a sort of time warp. The charming cobblestone pedestrian streets offer cozy cafes, vintage jewellers and interior design shops. Being an area worth of preservation the shops adhere to strict rules regarding logos, signs and facade decoration, which serves to protect the vintage feel of the area. However, during summer weekends store owners set up stalls along Haga Nygata, turning the neighbourhood into one big market.

In this area you find Market 29 owned by Markus, a style conscious entrepreneur, who carefully selects everything from furniture to tableware and art you find in the concept store.

Kvart Interiör
Slottsskogsgatan 46
414 70 Göteborg

Kvart is a funky design shop situated in an old banking building in the idyllic area around Mariaplan.
The owner Johanne is creative to the bone. Being the creator of her very own furniture line as well as an interior decorator and stylist she has created an intriguing and dynamic market concept selling handpicked interior designs, accessories and art.
With an eye for upcoming designers and local artist her shop presents an inspiring mix of unique designs as well as products from brands like Tom Dixon.
Psst… Johanne is always on the lookout for the next big thing, so drop her an email if you have an idea or working on a funky design of your own…

Vallgatan 36
411 16 Göteborg

If your style is more nostalgic Grandma’s is the place for you.
In the two-story shop you find a vast array of romantic country style designs and even a range of the store owners own designs.

Where to eat
Gothenburg offers many fabulous places to go for lunch, dinner or a quick snack.

We especially love the
Three Doors Deli
Prinsgatan 5
413 05 Göteborg

As a former fire-fighter in Iran the owner of the Three Doors Deli proudly presents his heroic past as part of the restaurant decor. Everywhere you look you see hatches and helmets that he has brought home with him from Iran. But of course the most memorable experience from our visit is the food. Tasteful stews, sweet fruits, acidic berries as well as lots of spices and herbs characterize Persian food. And with a menu that includes several vegetarian and/or gluten-free dishes there is something to please even the most delicate palate.
Stop by for lunch or even at the monthly jazz night for a delicious food experience with impeccable service.

Way Cup Cafe

Järntorget 3
413 04 Göteborg

Way Cup is a hip chain of – so far, but not for long – two cafés serving healthy fast-food. Based on a sustainable business concept the cafe serves delicious lunches, cakes and fair-trade coffee in young and colourful surroundings. Don’t cheat yourself of the experience of trying their tasty soups served in recycled jam jars while you enjoy the fun decor of old music records covering the walls.

House Doctor in the eyes of TEKO students

Today six first year students of respectively design, buying and branding presented a school project concerning House Doctor as their case.

The task given was to create a fashion piece inspired by an interior design brand and present it in a miniature trade fair setting.

Inspired by the versatility of the House Doctor brand the students' resulting product was a one piece, hooded pant suit in charcoal grey with wooden buttons and a rough cord belt. Something to dress up for fun or tone down for relaxing at home.

Thanks and congratulations on your exam to:
Louise Rønvig Henningsen, Laura Julie Jensen,Ingelin Furubotten, Louise Damsgaard, Jeanette Ebert & Zainab Niazi.

House Doctor proudly presents ASKØ

House Doctor continuously looks to the art world for inspiration. Art provokes, inspires and takes your mind on unexpected journeys. This season we have invited a talented young artist to share her art with you – so you can add to your home that extra dimension.

The artistic treat of our ss2014 collection is delivered by ASKØ alias Anne Sofie Kamphøvener Øtrup. Inspired by the offbeat characters she observes in the city of Copenhagen the talented young artist explores in her works the concept of self-presentation.

“It fascinates me how we each stage ourselves and how we want the world to see us.”

Check out her works at www.housedoctor.dk and have a look at ASKØs webshop too.

This week ShowLAB was buzzing with activity! Photographers Allan Trolle and Henrik Hviid shot a new video of the European oak veneer sofa OAK – and a cast of other House Doctor products. Aiming to portray our product range in a new way, Trolle and Hviid are experimenting with new techniques and different lighting. We cant't wait to see the result – it's gonna be vogue!
